Features deadline (completed by) first Friday 20th March

Listings completed by Tuesday 10th March

Front cover to printers by 20th march.

45 pages to fill (25 first week and 20 in the second). People/teams will be assigned pages as per the flat plan.

The plan is to concentrate on the feature half of the magazine the first week and the news side of things the second week. During the fortnight, previous work titles will go and we will all chip in where we can as part of one of three teams (web/listings/subbing) these teams will be decided shortly. But if you have certain skills in one of them speak with me, Nick or Nat.

Just a few key points from today:

In terms of news stories please makesure you send it the google email set up specifically not to Clarissa or Martini individually, on xcitynews@googlemail.com

Charlie and Kagum’s visualization ideas are progressing well and we had a healthy debate on how to present them. Charlie and Kagum will present the data and trends next week to the group.

As of next Tuesday new meeting will be at 11-12pm (the roomwill stay the same)

Finally, in terms of Production fortnight, I will post the details on here as soon as I know so everyone will been informed as to what is going on and what is expected of each other.

Martini: Not a huge amount of news copy sent this week.

Data stories: Charlie and Kagum have done some great research and found 7 possible stories / all can be effectively visualised for online and a double spread. Complete by end of next week.

Room 5a, 10 am, attendees: BR, Soph, Duncan Martini, Nick, Gabi, AM, Charlie, Nat

Overall, everything seems to be ticking along nicely.

Pheobe is going to assist Soph with listings.

Charile and Ruth are meeting up with a guy called Charlie to discuss some web developments. In regards to web, last week online news stories have been approved are will be uploaded shortly (probs tommorrow – there was just a slight difficulty with some of the pics). This weeks online stories will go live Friday lunch on the newly designed website.

Martini (this weeks news stories are being checked tonight). Please ensure research for news investigations is back by the end of the week so that ideas can be commissioned.

To help smooth the process I will email BR on a Sunday afternoon as the latest stories come in, so that she and Martini can scan over them ASAP.

Nick; Flat plan is pretty much sorted (adjustments have all been made to accomodate the listings re-arrangement). Nick and Lulu will ring printers tommorrow afternoon to discuss samples, costs and dates.

Duncan; features on the whole fine. At the moment there is no back page as such but Ruth is working on a gadget section as I understand it (this possibly needs to be checked).

Jewish Chronicle feature has been axed.

Listings: we need to commission interviews/profiles with alumni ASAP and have a few in reserve in case people pull-out last minute.(80-100 words each, spanning either a long thinner column or a smaller box at the bottom of the page (this is to fit in additional listings).

AM, illustrator Rosie will submit illustrations to be commissioned this week. BR made a good point that we check to ensure pics are not repeated throughout the mag (i.e. make sure we don’t have lots of lecture theatre pics through out etc.)

NIck and Ruth are working on a fantastic audio book of dept through the ages for the web and are considering a print piece to go alongside it.

Important points to note

When conducting interviews this week conisder any WEB OPTIONS , spin-offs that might work well, i.e. podcasts, vlogs etc…

make sure to check the web site FRIDAY lunch, www.x-citymagazine.com

Please all come to Brendans class to have a look at the templates.

Please finish the listings task Soph sent last week ASAP.

Please respond to Nats forthcoming email regarding various to do tasks (no reponse will end up in you being assigned a task without a choice).
